For a given sequence, the difference pattern is the sequence formed by taking the difference between each pair of consecutive numbers in the sequence. For an arithmetic sequence, the difference pattern is a constant number. For the sequence of triangular numbers 1, 3, 6, 10... the difference pattern is 1, 2, 3, 4...
