Additive inverse   (English)

Definition (keystage 3)

A number's additive inverse is whatever you have to add to the number to get the additive identity.

Definition (keystage 4)

If the additive identity is 0, then for an element a the additive inverse a* is the element for which a+a*=a*+a=0. In Z,Q,R,C the additive inverse of a is −a, but in N additive inverses do not exist.
