A point where a particular function is neither increasing nor decreasing, i.e. the gradient of its curve is zero.

For a function of one variable, a point where the derivative of the function is zero (if the function is differentiable).
For a function of more than one variable, a point where the partial derivatives of the function with respect to each of its variables are all zero, assuming that these derivatives exist.
