Brook Taylor (1685-1731): An English mathematician, most frequently remembered for his work on infinite series; Taylor's theorem and the Taylor series bear his name.
He worked on the calculus of finite differences, discovered integration by parts, and wrote on probability. He worked on various physical problems, for instance on magnetism; and he gave a new method for computing logarithms. He made discoveries in projective geometry, concerning perspective.
