Dilemma   (English)

Definition (keystage 3)

Literally 'two horns'; a situation in which there seem to be two choices, neither of which is satisfactory. For instance in the problem called the prisoner's dilemma, the prisoner is faced with the choice either of betraying his comrade, or of staying in prison for a very long time.
