Digit   (English)

Definition (keystage 1)

One of the numbers from 0 to 9. The value of the number depends on its position so in 15
the digit 1 represents 10 (1 ten)
the digit 5 represents 5 (5 units)

Definition (keystage 3)

One of the numbers from 0 to 9, used in a number to represent a value which depends on its position: for instance, in 1923:
the digit 1 represents 1000
the digit 9 represents 900
the digit 2 represents 20
and the digit 3 represents 3.
