Definition (keystage 2)

A proof is a careful, logical argument showing that something is true.

Definition (keystage 3)

A proof is an argument with a careful logical justification for each step. It is well-constructed enough that it must always be correct; there are no exceptions. When something has been proved we know that it is as true as it possibly can be.
