Prime   (English)

Definition (keystage 2)

If we have a variable x, and we wish to denote a different version of x, something that is related to x but not the same as it, we might write this other variable as x , read 'x prime'.

Definition (undergraduate level)

An element a ≠ 0 in a ring R is prime if it satisfies
a|bc \implies a|b     or a|c.
