A mapping from set A onto B is called surjective (or 'onto') if every member of B is the image of at least one member of A.

Definition (undergraduate level)

A mapping f : A → B is surjective if it satisfies ∀b ∈ B( ∃a ∈ A(f(a)=b)) .
