In mathematics, altitude can mean several different things:
The height of an object above the ground, or above some reference height;
The angular height of a star (or other astronomical object) above the horizon;
A perpendicular line segment from one vertex of a figure or solid to an edge or face opposite to that vertex. Also the length of such a line segement.
