Definition (keystage 3)

A mapping from a set A to a set B is injective if each element of A maps onto a different element of B.

Definition (undergraduate level)

A mapping f : A → B is injective if it satisfies f(p)=f(q) \implies p=q for all p,q ∈ A . Compare bijective, surjective.
