Numerator   (English)

Definition (keystage 2)

The number written above the line of a fraction.
It tells of the numbers of parts being dealt with.
E.g. 3/4 means there are three parts being dealt with and each one is a quarter.
4/9 means there are four parts being dealt with and each one is a ninth.
